Belated Birthday Rose

Belated Birthday Rose
Made this birthday card for my colleague whose birthday is on tomorrow. As I do not see her tomorrow plus I seldom back to office, by the time she received my little birthday gift, it will be a late birthday wishes already. Thus, I pre-made a belated birthday wishes card to her instead even though her birthday is tomorrow!

Runway Inspired Challenge RIC #58 - Trina Turk and CAS(E) This Sketch #73
For this card sketch and inspiration, I decided to adopt the combo challenges of Runway Inspired Challenge RIC #58 - Trina Turk and CAS(E) This Sketch #73 as shown above. However, I rotate the sketch clockwise as this time, due to the sketch inspiration, I decided to make a different fold of mini card - a gate fold mini card!

Cose-up : Semi circle in gold embossed pattern on black background
The background of the semi circle opening is embossed with gold embossing powder over the black card stock. After attached the embossed background onto the barley card base, it is die cut with a circle die to form the semi circle.

Close-up : 3D rose
On a white card stock, three (3) roses and two (2) leaves are stamped and colored using Copic markers. The color of the rose are inspired by the designer clothing. Then, the three (3) colored roses are trimmed so that they can be layered upon each to create some dimension using pop dots. Two (2) leaves are tucked behind the rose as decoration. It is then attached to the semi circle opening as in sketch.

Close-up : Sentiment
On the second fold, the sentiment is stamped on the left bottom corner. There is no other embellishment to the card as I want to keep the card as simple as possible.

Dimension : 7.62cm x 7.62cm or 3" x 3"
Type : Gate fold
Inlay : None

Newborn Congratulations

Newborn Congratulations
Made another baby/newborn congratulations card for an ex-associate who gave birth to a son last mid April 2014.

As the sketch is simple, I used a soft blue pattern paper as the background in which layered on a yellow card base. A yellow corrugated strip is attached onto the pattern paper as in sketch. Then, a strip of orange card stock, a blue gingham ribbon and a negative die cut edge are attached onto the yellow corrugated strip as shown in the sketch.

Close-up : Baby in cloth
A baby in a cloth is stamped on a white circle and colored using Copic markers. Two (2) tiny blush are added to the baby cheek just beside its smile. It looks so adorable with that tiny blush! Some faux stitching are added to the circle lining using a blue gel pen. The circle is then attached onto the card as in the sketch using pop dots to give some dimension.

Close-up : Sentiment
The sentiment is stamped on top of the yellow corrugated strip on the left as in sketch. As final touch, a gem is added to cloth knot.

Dimension : 10.16cm x 15.24cm or 4" x 6"
Type : Horizontal fold
Inlay : None

Chickadee Newborn Congratulations

Chickadee Newborn Congratulations
Made this card for one of my colleague who just gave birth to her fourth son early April. She always wanted a daughter when I knew her before she had her second son but till the fourth pregnancy, she still blessed with a son. Hopefully the next time I made another baby/newborn congratulation card for her, it is a baby girl congratulation card!

Sketch Saturday Week #306
I adopt the simple sketch from Sketch Saturday Week #306 as shown above by rotating the sketch to left. The colors of the card was inspired by Just Us Girls JUGS #237 - Color Challenge as shown below.
Just Us Girls JUGS #237 - Color Challenge

Close-up : The mother hen and its chickadees
On a white card stock, the grass is stamped in multiple layers. Then, three (3) chickadees that are facing right are stamped on the left of the card stock. The mother hen is stamped in front of the three (3) chickadees. This mimic that my colleague already have three (3) kids. In front of the mother hen, a chickadee that is facing left is stamped which mimic her newborn. The images are colored with Copic markers. The broken egg shell is manual created by cutting the whole egg shell into two (2) parts and added some black lining to the 'broken' edges. The broken egg shell is attached to the left and right of the chickadee which mimic he just born.

Close-up : Custom sentiment
The sentiment is customized using alphabets and it is stamped on top of the card stock.

Close-up : Embossed flower panel
An orange card stock is embossed with flowers. I choose flowers because it is spring time now and flowers are always good for celebration occasion. After trimmed, the orange embossed card stock is attached onto a blue card base as in sketch follow by the white card stock that stamped with images.

Dimension : 10.16cm x 15.24cm or 4" x 6"
Type : Horizontal fold
Inlay : None
